Weekend Update 2/10/14

Scott and I are back home…. BRRRRR I miss the warm weather, beach and ocean πŸ™‚

My dad picked Scott and I up from the airport Friday evening. When we got home we met my parents at Bonfire for dinner. It was only my second time eating there and I don’t know why I don’t eat there more often! SOOOO GOOD!!!

Saturday I met my mom at Title Boxing Club in Woodbury for a boxing class. For Christmas my mom gave me a groupon for 1 month of unlimited classes. Oh man what an amazing workout!!!! The instructors nickname was AKA = Ass Kicking Al!

Saturday evening Scott and I headed to Mark and Sarah’s to see their new place and cook dinner. I made my famously delicious Pasta alla Vodka Sauce.

Look how cute Mark and Sarah’s puppy is!!!!

We planned on only have a couple classes of wine but that turned into a bottle and a half and a shot. So we ended up staying overnight.

I was supposed to start my Advocare 24 Day Challenge Sunday but since I didn’t have my Advocare stuff with me I ended up waiting to start Advocare until Monday.

Sunday morning since I wasn’t starting advocare until Monday we headed to breakfast!!

OMG I had an AMAZING omelet!!!! It’s called the Northern Omelet filled with cream cheese, onion, ham and wild rice! So good!!!!

Sunday after lounging on the couch and grocery shopping Scott and I headed to my parents place to make dinner. I made dinner, of course πŸ™‚

Citrus roasted chicken! I marinaded it with fresh lime, orange and lemon juice.

Roasted brussel sprouts, potatoes and carrots! You know how I love my roasted carrots!!

After dinner we watched some Olympics! Go USA πŸ™‚

Today I started my Advocare 24 Day Challenge! So far it is going great. I’m to shy to post my starting photos but maybe if I see a big difference between my starting photos and my finishing photos I will post them at the end!!

The best thing about Advocare is you eat normal food. The key is clean eating. The only thing you cut out is dairy.

For breakfast I had 2 eggs, 1 piece of whole wheat toast and sliced strawberries.

For lunch I had 1 roasted chicken breast, roasted potatoes and green beans.

Before making dinner I headed to Title for my second boxing class! It was super intense and sweaty and wonderful πŸ™‚

Dinner was definitely a win!

I made Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps! Oh man were these amazing! I highly recommend them, they were super easy to make which is always a plus! The combo of chicken, cilantro, carrots, pineapple and peanut sauce was awesome.

The rest of my night will be spent doing homework for my 1 class. I currently have an Associate degree so I am going right back into school again to get my 4 year degree!

How was your weekend?

A Spin Class To Remember

Before I get to the spin class I have to share a fun picture some of the people in my clinical group took.

St. Kate Nursing Students

This week at the hospital where I am doing clinicals it was their groundbreaking for their new ER!! It was kind of fun. We got this lovely picture taken! Gotta love those construction hats πŸ™‚

Anyways…. onto the main part of this post…. Wednesday morning! Thanks to Katie I got to go to a spin class sponsored by Koss Corporation and led by Dara Torres!!!

Before the spin class started we got to have a little meet and greet with Dara. She is very down to earth and nice. She was very open to questions.

Then it was time to get on the bikes!!

During the class we got to use a pair of FitClip headphones which were designed by Dara and Koss. They are made specifically for women. I immediately fell in LOVE with these headphones. They were so comfortable and they didn’t move once during the class. They suction into your ear so the sound quality is amazing. I will definitely be using them TONS! I needed a new pair of headphones for running.

We also got a pair of the FitBud headphones. I have not tried them while working out yet but if they are anything like the FitClip headphones they will be amazing!

Now for this spin class…. first thank you so much The Shed Fitness in Uptown for hosting this amazing event.

I had not taken a spin class before this…. I was a bit nervous. But I was pleasantly surprised! I actually loved it. The class went by super fast. I had a lot of fun on the bikes and let me tell ya Dara is one tough Spin instructor. I was dripping in sweat by the end of the class.

The only negative thing about spinning is it really hurts my butt. I’m told that after a few classes it wont hurt anymore?! I’m definitely feeling it a few days later. My legs and butt are very sore! I will be taking another spin class very soon. It is something my mom and I can do together because she trains for duathalon’s and tri’s.

I am so thankful that I was able to go to this class. Koss really spoiled us.

Photo from Melanie. I hope you dont mind I stole it…. I forgot to take my own photo before leaving the house.

We got two sets of headphones and three shirts. I wore the yellow tank for the class and loved it. We also got a tshirt and a 3/4 hooded shirt. They are all super cute.

I also really loved that they hand wrote a note thanking us for coming to the event and acknowledging that they read our blog.

All in all it was an amazing experience and I HIGHLY recommend the FitClips or FitBuds! You can check them out for yourself here.

After the class I wasn’t expecting a surprise when I got home….. my managers at work sent me Get Well Soon flowers!!

I was totally surprised and so thankful. I really love my job and my managers!!! They truly care!

I’m still on my coumadin and lovenox injections. My INR last night was 1.5….. slowly making its way to the 2-3 range. I’m increasing my coumadin over the weekend and going in Monday morning for another blood draw… We will see. I’m hoping by then it will be within the range πŸ™‚

Is it true you butt gets used to spinning??

What type of headphone do you use while you workout?

Disclaimer: I was not paid to go to the event or to write this post. It was a free opportunity given to me by Koss Corporation. All opinions are my own.
