Friday Favorites

Today is the start of a new link up! Katie over at Running4Cupcakes started this link up and I am very excited to participate.

Heres what Friday Favorites means to Katie: “I know there are a couple of version of Friday Favorites around the blog world, but here on R4C, it’s all about the little things that made you smile over the past week. And anything goes! Because we all know that it’s the little things in life that make it count, right?”

I have lots of favorites from this week!

New Workout Bag:

This is the Everything Fits Bag from Gaiam. My bag came yesterday and I got to use it today and so far I am loving it! Everything really does fit.

I don’t really love the cold but I do love the snow. And my furry friend really loves the snow!

The End of Nursing School:

Thursday night I took my final nursing test of my Associate Program! This girl is officially graduating with a RN degree.

Celebrating Thursday Night:

Gotta love the glowing eyes from being in a dark bar πŸ™‚

Love my Hard Cider πŸ™‚

I really was blessed this semester to have an amazing clinical group. We all got along so well and I think we will all stay friends for a long time.

Operation Beautiful:

Todays challenge for #elf4health was Operation Beautiful. I honestly hadn’t heard of operation beautiful before this challenge. Their goal is to spread to teenage girls that they are beautiful just the way they are. It really is the little things, like a note on the mirror or randomly placed at Target, that make a difference.

My note that I left at the gym.

And a couple other notes that other elves left!

Spin Class:

I truly love the Road Rage spin class at Xperience Fitness. The instructor, Stacey, is so amazing! She is so inspirational and really pushes us. During the class she always has us take a moment to be thankful for our healthy bodies. She sometimes has us dedicate our ride to someone who can’t be there. I love every minute of her class.

Now it’s your turn… What are your favorites from this week?

Weekend Update 11/17/13

This weekend was GREAT!! I had nothing planned and just played it by ear.

Friday I went to Road Rage, spin class, in the morning. Then in the afternoon I met my friend Megan at Tavern on France for happy hour! We enjoyed some wine, waffle fries and nachos. It was so great to catch up.

Friday night I went bowling with my parents and a couple of their friends. It had been so long since I’d been bowling. Lets just say that I did not break 100 πŸ™‚

Saturday my mom picked me up bright and early and we headed to The Girls On The Run 5k. My mom volunteers as a coach for one of the teams.

My goal for the 5k was just to finish, especially since I haven’t ran since September. Good news is… I finished! Mom and I ran together for the first mile and then we ran with one of the girls mom coaches for the rest of the 5k. It was a really fun experience to see all the girls finish the 5k.

After the 5k I headed home and relaxed on the couch for most of the afternoon. Scott headed to his friend’s bachelor party so it was just Maisy and I Saturday (And the cat).

I went to dinner with the bachelor’s future wife, Steph. After dinner I headed home and relaxed some more in bed.

Maisy decided to use Scott’s pillow since he wasn’t home to use it πŸ™‚

Sunday morning I headed to SkyZone for SkyRobics! I made sure to take some pics this time πŸ™‚

This is the area that we use for SkyRobics.

We wear bright orange sock that have grips on the bottom.

One of the hardest things we do is laps. You would think it wasn’t that bad but by lap number 3 I’m usually way out of breath and stopping for water. We do laps for 6 minutes. Today we also did Killers (aka suicides). Man oh man were those Killer πŸ™‚ It was such a good workout and according to My Fitness Pal I burned about 700 calories!

After SkyRobics I showered and headed to Target to get some groceries. I went to Target at the wrong time I think half of Woodbury was there! It was insane.

Saturday afternoon I headed to Xperience Fitness for RPM (spin class) and BodyFlow. RPM was extra special today because the instructor dedicated the ride to someone who recently passed away from cancer.

We had to do a fun pic as Roosters because our instructor and a few of the guys in the class bike with the rooster team.

Today was really heavy on the working out but I will be resting tomorrow from working out!

I have a few meals planned for this week…

Monday: Homemade Healthy Potato Soup

Tuesday: Leftovers

Wednesday: Crockpot Orange Chicken

Thursday: Leftovers

Friday: To Be Determined

This week I start my labor and delivery clinicals and the days I don’t have class I work. On the up side my brother Nathan comes home and he is bringing his pup Mesa. They live in Colorado so it will be great to see them.

Another fun thing for this week….. I am having my first giveaway!!!! Check back on Monday for a EnergyBits Review/Giveaway!!

What did you guys do this weekend?

Weekend Update 11/3/13

I have had quite the weekend!!!

Friday I started out by finishing my first mile towards my 75 mile goal for Pile On The Miles!

Pile on the miles is an annual virtual challenge where we challenge ourselves to walk and/or run during the month of November. The goal is to pile on extra miles not pounds during this food filled season. Anyone can join this virtual challenge…. just sign up here. Then go to RunEatRepeat each week to stay accountable and be entered in a drawing to win prizes. My goal for the month of November is to go 75 miles. 1 down….. 74 more to go πŸ™‚

Friday evening I went to a Scentsy party! I had never been to one before but had heard good things so I was so excited to attend! I ended up buying lots of wonderful warmers and scents!!!! I can’t wait to smell the amazing holiday scents!

Miss Maisy was also being very goofy friday night…. snuggling/playing with her current favorite toy… the elephant!

Saturday…. started out with a spin class! I just love the instructor who teaches the saturday morning spin class. She is so inspirational and keeps me going. I got a great sweat in!!!

After spin class I got cleaned up and then headed to my parents to hang out and get ready to go out for halloween!

Mom, Dad and I

I reused my costume from last year and my parents reused their costumes from a couple years ago. We didn’t plan it but ended up all going as pirates.

We also had hit girl and kickass from the movie kickass!!

And it isn’t a party unless Austin Powers is there!!! He was disinfecting his teeth in his drink πŸ™‚

We went downtown Hudson for our evening out and had a blast! I really love spending halloween with this group of people. I was solo that night because Scott was at the farm.

Sunday Dad and I got up really early and headed to the farm to help Scott and his uncle on their last day of harvesting.

They finished up their last day of harvesting corn and I had to bring my dad down to get in on the action.

Besides being super windy it was a nice day out!!

Now it is time for bed….. I have another super busy week ahead of me…. I will check in again when I can.

What did you do this weekend?

A Spin Class To Remember

Before I get to the spin class I have to share a fun picture some of the people in my clinical group took.

St. Kate Nursing Students

This week at the hospital where I am doing clinicals it was their groundbreaking for their new ER!! It was kind of fun. We got this lovely picture taken! Gotta love those construction hats πŸ™‚

Anyways…. onto the main part of this post…. Wednesday morning! Thanks to Katie I got to go to a spin class sponsored by Koss Corporation and led by Dara Torres!!!

Before the spin class started we got to have a little meet and greet with Dara. She is very down to earth and nice. She was very open to questions.

Then it was time to get on the bikes!!

During the class we got to use a pair of FitClip headphones which were designed by Dara and Koss. They are made specifically for women. I immediately fell in LOVE with these headphones. They were so comfortable and they didn’t move once during the class. They suction into your ear so the sound quality is amazing. I will definitely be using them TONS! I needed a new pair of headphones for running.

We also got a pair of the FitBud headphones. I have not tried them while working out yet but if they are anything like the FitClip headphones they will be amazing!

Now for this spin class…. first thank you so much The Shed Fitness in Uptown for hosting this amazing event.

I had not taken a spin class before this…. I was a bit nervous. But I was pleasantly surprised! I actually loved it. The class went by super fast. I had a lot of fun on the bikes and let me tell ya Dara is one tough Spin instructor. I was dripping in sweat by the end of the class.

The only negative thing about spinning is it really hurts my butt. I’m told that after a few classes it wont hurt anymore?! I’m definitely feeling it a few days later. My legs and butt are very sore! I will be taking another spin class very soon. It is something my mom and I can do together because she trains for duathalon’s and tri’s.

I am so thankful that I was able to go to this class. Koss really spoiled us.

Photo from Melanie. I hope you dont mind I stole it…. I forgot to take my own photo before leaving the house.

We got two sets of headphones and three shirts. I wore the yellow tank for the class and loved it. We also got a tshirt and a 3/4 hooded shirt. They are all super cute.

I also really loved that they hand wrote a note thanking us for coming to the event and acknowledging that they read our blog.

All in all it was an amazing experience and I HIGHLY recommend the FitClips or FitBuds! You can check them out for yourself here.

After the class I wasn’t expecting a surprise when I got home….. my managers at work sent me Get Well Soon flowers!!

I was totally surprised and so thankful. I really love my job and my managers!!! They truly care!

I’m still on my coumadin and lovenox injections. My INR last night was 1.5….. slowly making its way to the 2-3 range. I’m increasing my coumadin over the weekend and going in Monday morning for another blood draw… We will see. I’m hoping by then it will be within the range πŸ™‚

Is it true you butt gets used to spinning??

What type of headphone do you use while you workout?

Disclaimer: I was not paid to go to the event or to write this post. It was a free opportunity given to me by Koss Corporation. All opinions are my own.
